Specialized expertise. Impactful advice.

Public company executives are not like other clients; and Executive Consulting of Raymond James is not like other advisory partners. Focusing on the corporate executive arena allows founding partners Sam Aspinwall and Omar De La Rosa to serve as subject matter experts in the topics that matter most, including equity compensation, employer stock concentrations, insider trading regulations and developing a plan to replace compensation with investment income in retirement. Their unmatched experience in these topics positions them as the preeminent wealth advisory practice for public company executives.

Working with corporate executives across the country, Executive Consulting of Raymond James combines proprietary tools for analyzing equity compensation and employer stock concentrations with cash-flow-based planning techniques and a discretionary investment management model built to target replacing income in retirement. The team's dedicated focus to serving public companies and their executives has led to our team working closely with the firm’s Global Equities & Investment Banking division on a variety of topics, including serving as the exclusive partner for executing Directed Share Programs; offering unique solutions to Up-C structured companies and their unitholders; and providing support for Rule 10b5-1 plans.

Services Offered

Corporate executive planning

In addition to the normal wealth planning needs of successful individuals and families, public company executives face an added layer of complex issues that must be incorporated into advice in order to maximize the potential for long-term financial success.

Equity compensation

Equity compensation is traditionally the largest creator of wealth for a public company executive. While cash compensation is typically great, it usually funds lifestyle expenses. Ultimately, the long-term wealth of an executive comes from their ongoing receipt of various stock awards, including options, restricted stock grants, restricted stock units and/or performance shares.

Concentration risk

Public company executives ultimately build a concentration in company stock, which often poses the single largest risk exposure on their balance sheet. We have the experience and tools to aid in developing a customized plan for navigating this complicated issue.

Insider trading regulations

Another complex challenge affecting public company executives are the regulations surrounding trades in employer stock. Rule 144, Section 16, Rule 10b-5 and company trading policies must all be considered prior to executing trades for executives.

Directed share programs

In addition to working with many of the senior executives on holistic wealth management issues, we serve as the dedicated partner to the Raymond James Global Equities & Investment Banking division on Rule 10b5-1 plans and Directed Share Programs.

Up-C services

The umbrella partnership-C corporation corporate structure (known as an “Up-C”) is common when a private company owned via a pass-through structure such as a partnership or LLC goes public. We have developed several solutions applicable for executives at Up-C companies.
