Get to know First Western Advisors
First Western Advisors was established on July 1, 1982, with a pioneering vision centered around “The Independent Advantage." Recognizing the potential conflicts of interest inherent in investment banking and trading, our founders set out to create a practice devoted entirely to serving our clients. We believe this commitment to independence has allowed us to become trusted advisors in Utah, focusing solely on representing the best interests of our clients.
Commitment to stability and generational client relationships
Throughout the past four decades, First Western Advisors has demonstrated remarkable stability in ownership and management. This consistency has enabled us to cultivate lasting relationships with families, many of whom have entrusted us with their financial well-being across generations. Gary W. Teran, who has an accomplished history with both a Fortune 200 Company and a major New York-based brokerage firm, has led FWA since 1997 after having joined the company in 1984. Under his leadership, our steadfast approach has proven beneficial, especially during significant financial and political crises, including the market crash of 1987, Sept. 11, 2001 and the 2008 financial meltdown.
In addition to stable leadership, FWA’s advisors have an average of over 20 years of experience.
Diverse offerings and adaptability
We pride ourselves on offering a broad array of products and services that reflect our commitment to meeting our clients’ evolving needs. By keeping pace with the dynamic changes in the marketplace, we ensure that our clients have access to innovative and effective financial products. Throughout this evolution, we remain unwavering in our focus on client representation, consistently prioritizing their interests above all else.
Community involvement and advocacy
In addition to focusing on client services, we prioritize community engagement and acting in the public good. We have actively participated in charitable organizations and initiatives aimed at enhancing financial literacy. Our involvement has included contributions to the Utah Anti-Fraud College, where we have worked tirelessly to educate the public about the challenges and impacts of investment fraud to empower investors and help protect them from scams.
Looking forward
As we reflect on our journey, First Western Advisors remains committed to our foundational principles of integrity, transparency and client service. We look forward to continuing to serve our clients and the community, while adapting to the evolving landscape of financial services, ensuring every decision we make echoes our commitment to our clients' best interests.
