With 20 years in the financial services industry, Topper has a breadth of knowledge to offer clients when helping them pursue their financial goals and ideal retirement. He provides comprehensive financial planning guidance, specializing in investment policy and asset allocation, insurance review, wealth transfer, and charitable giving strategies as well as estate planning.
Topper understands the complexities of investing and strives to help his clients avoid the many pitfalls within the investment landscape, such as high fee products, a lack of liquidity and products without the appropriate risk and return characteristics. He is passionate about educating people on sound investment strategies that will help them save for the future while bringing them a sense of comfort and confidence throughout the potentially intimidating investment process.
Before joining Raymond James, Topper spent over a decade at UBS Financial Services as a vice president of wealth management. Prior to that, he was a portfolio manager in the trust department at Union Planters Bank and a research analyst at Mastrapasqua and Associates. He began his career at JC Bradford as a research liaison. Topper earned a bachelor’s degree from Rhodes College and a master’s in tax accountancy from the University of Tennessee.
Topper regularly attends Christ Presbyterian Church in Nashville. He is an avid athlete and stays active with an early morning exercise club he co-founded with a friend. He also enjoys golfing and doing CrossFit. Topper was a little league baseball coach for 10 seasons and loves watching his children, Selden, Wylie and Will compete in various sports. In his spare time, he enjoys reading historical fiction.
Topper lives in Nashville with his wife, Karen, and their three children.
