I was taught early on that hard work and discipline were required to be successful in life. I grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin, where my strong work ethic was instilled. Discipline was an essential life ingredient as well because the cows have to be milked twice a day- no matter what!
From the time I was a young child I enjoyed talking with others and learning about people’s varied lives and different viewpoints. It came as no surprise to my family and friends, that upon graduating from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, I went into sales. I was working for Sherwin Williams and I found after a few years I wasn’t fulfilled and a change was needed. This epiphany allowed me to realize that my passion for helping others should be tied to my career. I made the decision to become a Financial Advisor in 1994 and it was the best move of my life.
I came to realize a personal dream of mine in 2008, which was to be in business for myself. I decided to open the doors to Hofslien Wealth Services in Prior Lake, the community where we’ve raised our children and become a part of through our volunteering efforts. I’m very proud to be associated with Raymond James which is one of North America’s leading independent full-service investment firm.
I think what a lot of people wish for is to make a difference while they are on this Earth. I absolutely love being a Financial Advisor because helping people make good financial decisions and then being able to see the outcomes lets me know that I am making a difference in their lives.
In my free time, I enjoy volunteering as a teacher of Junior Achievement with grade school children. The Prior Lake Rotary has also been a passion of mine for over 20 years. I’m married to Jill and we have three children (Nicole, Megan & Connor). I enjoy golfing, reading about history and hunting.
