Common questions

What issues can you support divorcees with?

  • Personal vs. marital property
  • Valuing and dividing property
  • Retirement assets and pensions
  • Spousal and child support
  • Splitting the house
  • Tax problems and solutions
  • Tax law and financial issues affecting divorce

What’s a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® trained to do?

A CDFA® professional has received extensive training to help you understand the financial details of your divorce. The goal of a financial advisor who has earned this credential is to help you make more informed decisions and avoid unnecessary delays in the process.

CDFAs® can model how different settlement options will impact taxes, retirement and the overall stability of your life. They can help you plan a realistic budget and understand the true cost of your new financial life. Guidance from a CDFA® professional is designed to replace misconceptions with clarity and help you navigate divorce with greater confidence.

Should a divorcing person hire a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® instead of a lawyer?

A CDFA® professional’s role is to assist a lawyer. You’ll still need an attorney to represent you during the divorce, and it’s highly recommended that you seek the proper legal counsel when going through the separation process.

Do you support Collaborative Divorce or “no court” divorce options?

As a member of the Collaborative Divorce Institute of Tampa Bay, Jeannie Holliday is qualified to pull together a team of professionals to work with you on a Collaborative Divorce.

We recognize that this no-court approach is suitable in helping some couples resolve their separation respectfully and amicably. With each spouse supported by their own attorney – and with shared access to financial and other specialists – this approach is designed to find a cooperative path forward.
