Lauren Shinn

I was born and raised in Sarasota, Florida, in a single-parent household where I learned the value of perseverance and integrity from an early age. My mother worked two jobs to provide a life for my sister and I, and her dedication continues to inspire me. Growing up in a small, close-knit family, I’ve always considered them my greatest supporters. Their unwavering encouragement has pushed me to pursue my goals and be my best self. My mother’s commitment to both her career as a real estate agent and to our family instilled in me a deep appreciation for hard work and the importance of meaningful relationships.

From an early age, I was drawn to mathematics and problem-solving, always curious not only about how things work, but why. This analytical mindset led me to pursue a degree in Actuarial Science at High Point University, where I graduated with honors and earned minors in Economics and Business. It was during my Mathematics of Finance course that I discovered a passion for finance. I was fascinated by how probability and statistics intersect with market behavior and economic trends. That realization marked a turning point, inspiring me to shift my professional focus toward a career in finance.

After graduation, I began my career at the Raymond James home office in St. Petersburg, Florida, working in back-office operations. This role provided valuable exposure to financial markets and the broader investment landscape, further solidifying my interest in the field and motivating me to pursue financial certifications. While I appreciated the analytical nature of the role, I found myself drawn to a position that blends financial analysis with meaningful client relationships.

This desire led me to join the Insperity Private Wealth team and relocate to New York City, where I could engage directly with clients in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Outside of work, I enjoy trying new recipes, exploring music, and spending time with family and friends. I also love traveling and discovering new places, especially exploring the different neighborhoods and experiences that New York City has to offer.
