Stephen J. Adler,
CIMA®
Managing Director
My interest in investing began at a young age, listening to my father discuss stocks and speculative trading around the dinner table. I made my first stock purchase in my mid-teens, shares of Collins Radio, which were later acquired by Rockwell International. From the beginning, I was captivated by companies, their stocks, and the stories behind them.
This led me to a career as a stockbroker at EF Hutton in 1976. However, my enthusiasm for the markets was tempered by the harsh lessons of volatility, and the downturns of 1973–74 (when my father nearly went broke), 1987, and 2008. The first downturn I experienced professionally taught me the importance of thoughtful planning, and in the late 1970s, I began developing plans to help individuals and families preserve and grow their wealth. My first plans were built using an early spreadsheet program that no longer exists. Today’s tools are far more advanced, but the core principles of sound planning remain unchanged.
As I approach the conclusion of my career in 2026, I take great satisfaction in the trust my clients have placed in me and the meaningful relationships I’ve built, many of which I consider true friendships. I have full confidence in the Insperity team to continue this practice, guided by values that prioritize the well-being of clients and their families.
