Overcoming the challenges of risk, meeting the demands of growth.

Ron Miller, CFP®

Managing Director, Investments

Ron began his career as an aerospace scientist in 1962, after receiving Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Engineering degrees from the University of Kansas. He conducted basic and applied research at the Douglas Aerophysics Laboratory in California and the Lockheed Aerospace Sciences Laboratory in Georgia during the first decade of his career.

Then, in 1971, he received an MBA in finance from Georgia State University, where he earned membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, the honorary business school society. In the same year, Ron put aside a successful career in aerospace research for the challenges of Wall Street by joining the firm of Shearson Hammill & Co. that eventually, through many mergers, became a part of Salomon Smith Barney.

In 1977, Ron became a Certified Financial Planner™ professional, a distinction he has maintained to the present. He joined the Salomon Smith Barney Portfolio Management Group in 1988 and twice received the Portfolio Performance Award for the top performance among more than 250 portfolio managers at the firm. He was appointed a senior portfolio management director in 1994.

Ron brings a wide variety of analytical and investment skills to his unique portfolio management philosophy. This is a result of his scientific background and extensive experience as an investor and a portfolio manager in all types of investment environments since the mid 1960s.
