Mike has more than 30 years experience as a financial services professional. He began his career in 1994 with J.C. Bradford. He joined Investment and Retirement Management in 1998, which later became Barker Petway. We welcomed Mike to the firm in July 2026 and he now manages our Dalton, GA office.
Mike is a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor and a Certified Funds Specialist. He also holds the Certified in Long Term Care designation, which means he has the training and skills necessary to assist clients and families with the planning and financial decisions that should be considered when addressing the risk of a long term care event. His licenses include Series 7, Series 63 and Series 24 along with an insurance license for fixed and variable products.
Mike has been a student of the stock market since his college days when he was studying the market when the crash of October 1987 happened. This gave him an early exposure to the importance of managing risk and this guides his practice today. He assists his clients with a wide range of financial decisions with a focus on retirement planning and wealth management. He utilizes technical and quantitative analysis of the market, along with the research capabilities of Raymond James, to structure custom portfolios for his clients.
He earned a BBA degree from West Georgia College and an MBA from Berry College.
In his spare time, he enjoys golf and trips to Hilton Head. He and his wife Anne have two daughters: Ashley, an associate marketing manager for a makeup brand, and Kathryn, head tennis coach at Brenau University.
