A graduate of the Air Engineering School and the Royal Naval College of Dartmouth, England, Alan spent his early years as a Royal Navy officer, flying anti-submarine helicopters.
While in the Navy, Alan completed a graduate diploma in management and business studies from Plymouth Polytechnic, a satellite of the London Business School.
Initially, his business career began with Kidder, Peabody & Co., after which he joined Barnett Securities Inc., where he became area manager. When Barnett Bank was sold to Nations Bank, he joined what became Deutsche Bank Alex Brown Private Client Services.
Alan is currently a senior vice president of investments with Raymond James & Associates, Inc. He holds the wealth management specialist designation, multiple securities and insurance licenses, and is a member of the Institute of Investment Management Consultants.
Born in London, he moved to the United States in 1986 with his wife, Deborah, a Jacksonville, Florida, native. The couple still lives in Jacksonville with their son, Taylor.
Alan is an active member of the community, devoting time to the foundation board of Daniel Memorial, the Navy League of Jacksonville board and his local Boy Scouts of America troop. He is a past president of Riverside Rotary.
In his spare time, Alan is an avid golfer, private pilot, snow skier, fisherman and world traveler.
