James S. Karageorge Founder & CEO, KWM Senior Wealth Manager, RJFS

With more than 30 years of accumulated industry experience, Jim’s focus and commitment is reflected in his expertise in tailoring comprehensive investment strategies for each individual client. These strategies strive for maximum flexibility, wealth preservation and a linear path toward pursuing his clients’ financial objectives through a disciplined process. By collaborating with CPAs, attorneys, etc., Jim employs a holistic approach to pursuing the financial objectives of his clients. This approach includes succession and legacy planning, so that when life’s unexpected moments happen, his clients are prepared with an action plan.

Jim began his financial career at The Ohio Company, where he attained the title of senior vice president. Thereafter, he served clients for 17 years at Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network as an independent managing principal. He recently established Karageorge Wealth Management, aligning with Raymond James Financial Services to better serve the needs of his clients.

The compelling factor that drove Jim to become a financial advisor was the experience of losing his father at the age of 10 years old. While his mother endeavored to manage the family’s finances, he witnessed firsthand how some offered assistance, while others took advantage of her situation. This resulted in him understanding the necessity of having independent, disciplined and experienced financial planning. Jim’s philosophy is that “One person with a commitment is worth more than one thousand who only have an interest. This commitment is not something that ends every day at five o’clock,” says Jim. “It’s turning all your talents toward one singular goal - that of serving my clients”.

Jim is a graduate of Ohio University, where he studied marketing and finance. He earned an Executive Master of Business Administration certificate from The Wharton School's Securities Industry Institute® and Wharton Executive Education at the University of Pennsylvania, which is among the top business universities in the U.S. Jim has been an adjunct professor at Ohio University’s College of Business since 2007, where he taught a Certified Financial Planning (CFP) Prep Course on retirement planning and employee benefits.

Jim’s investment banking underwriting experience with The Ohio Company includes: Rocky Shoes & Boots, Inc. (RCKY) 1,650,000 shares common stock (IPO), February 10, 1993, and The Ohio University $36,650,000 General Receipts Bonds Series 1993, December 1, 1993, providing financing for the Charles J. Ping Student Recreation Center.

Outside the office, Jim is an active member in his community. His extensive list of activities and accolades includes membership to the Athens County Shrine Club, the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce, Athens Red Cross and the O’Bleness Memorial Hospital Development Council Planned Giving Committee. He is one of the founders and original charter members of Athens AM Rotary, as well as a former board member and finance committee member for Habitat for Humanity. His hobbies include golfing, mentoring, fly fishing, sport shooting and charitable giving. Jim is a lifelong resident of Athens, Ohio, where he still lives and works today.
