It is so easy to get caught up in the day to day hustle and bustle of life. Sometimes by the end of the week, the month, or the year, I look back and think where did the time go? As January begins with a fresh slate, let us remember to take time to enjoy the present.
My sister-in-law recently had a surgery that put her out of commission for several days. My brother shared with me that as soon as she was home after the surgery, all she could talk about was how she was just wasting time and she needed to get back to work. I appreciate her dedication, but her body needed to heal, and I told him it was important for her to rest too. That advice went over like a lead balloon.
If there is one resounding theme I have heard over the last several weeks, it has been to live every day to the fullest, because you just don’t know what tomorrow will bring. It’s good advice. I don’t always live by it, but I am certainly trying. Like my sister-in-law, I love what I do and taking time off from work is actually quite difficult for me. The reality is, however, that time off is important. It gives us time to rejuvenate so that when we come back to the office our focus is on you. In fact, Raymond James’s culture is one that includes the motto: Work, Work, Play. Even our CEO, Paul Reilly, and Chairman Emeritus, Tom James, live by this motto and encourage us all to do the same.
You are important to us. We want your needs as our clients to be met, and that is why we are a team. If it was just me, or if it was just Cliff taking care of you, there just wouldn’t be enough of us to go around. Kindred Financial Partners is currently a team of five qualified professionals here to help you. Cliff Mulder, Mike Tangalakis and I manage your investments and help you plan for and live in retirement. Jodi Harrison works as our Business Manager. She oversees day to day operations to make sure everything runs smoothly, helps with retirement plans, trading and consolidating your investment accounts. Kasey Phillips is our client service associate. She is the smiling, friendly voice on the other end of the phone when you call in. Kasey is proficient in transferring money where you need it to go or sending out checks. She facilitates with account openings and needed paperwork. If one of us is unavailable, some else on the team is here to help you. We work together for you!
This is the start of a new year. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but we have the opportunity to make it our best year yet. This year I am going to keep a gratitude journal. If I say it out loud, and in writing, then not only am I committed but I have accountability partners. Keep me going this year! I plan on enjoying the moment, living in the present, and experiencing every day. Will you join me?
