In 1994, Jonathan followed his father’s advice and joined the field of financial services. He started as a technical analyst with Wells Fargo Advisors – later working for its predecessors, Wachovia and Prudential Securities – in the institutional managed money division. It was a role that enabled him to provide personal financial planning services to important high-net-worth clients, along with research and advisory services on pension funds, 401(k)s, endowments and portfolio management.
After completing his Certified Financial Planner® certification from Boston University in early 1997, Jonathan began working as a personal financial advisor in southern Connecticut. He grew his business there until 2007, when he moved back to his summer home in Martha’s Vineyard and founded his own financial practice: Lightship Capital Management, where he continues serving as the principal and sole owner. Centered on providing deeply personalized financial planning and asset management services, the team at Lightship Capital Management serves clients in 17 states across the east coast.
“I’m committed to making a difference in the lives of my clients and their families through truly holistic service,” says Jonathan. “That’s why we examine every aspect of their finances – from their household expenses to their long-term aspirations – and create a detailed plan fit for their needs.
“We work together to demystify the sometimes complex financial world. This empowers clients, allowing them to fully understand their investment assets, risk tolerance and which realistic goals they can work toward. We also guide clients through various portfolio techniques, determining custom solutions, appropriate income strategies, unnecessary expenses and more. And we often implement insurance strategies to help protect their heirs as well.”
Keeping his clients’ best interests at heart, Jonathan affiliated with Raymond James in 2021. In addition to aligning with a company that shares his people-first values, Jonathan can now draw from the strength of a leading international financial firm to further enhance the boutique-style service clients have come to expect from him.
Applying his robust industry experience, Jonathan has written numerous financial articles and made television appearances to discuss investment and planning techniques. He also holds FINRA securities registrations 7, 9, 10, 31, 63, 65, along with applicable state insurance licenses.
