Michael Martin, a retired Major General in the United States Marine Corps, is a wealth management consultant who advises business owners, high-net-worth individuals, and corporate executives on strategic financial planning, investment strategy, and transaction readiness. He integrates wealth planning with investment banking and mergers and acquisitions advisory to help clients prepare for, execute, and monetize liquidity events.
His clients are typically business owners and executives approaching significant liquidity events or complex financial inflection points.
With more than 34 years of leadership experience as a Marine Corps infantry officer, including combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and over 28 years in financial advisory and investment management, Michael applies a disciplined, mission-driven framework built on scenario planning, risk assessment, and decisive execution to long-term wealth strategy, capital preservation, and enterprise value optimization. His experience leading large, complex organizations in high-stakes environments informs an advisory approach grounded in strategic planning, accountability, and decisive execution.
This framework is applied across five core disciplines:
- Strategic Financial Planning for Business Owners and Executives
- Mergers & Acquisitions and Business Exit Advisory
- Business Succession and Legacy Planning
- Comprehensive Wealth Management
- Tax-Efficient Wealth Transfer and Estate Coordination
Michael’s passion for financial markets began at age 15 and has evolved into a lifelong commitment to helping clients build sustainable growth, liquidity, and long-term security. After two decades as a financial advisor at a major Wall Street firm, he chose independence to build a client-first, fiduciary-driven advisory practice. He leads a collaborative advisory platform that integrates investment management, estate and tax planning, business valuation, and transaction advisory—coordinating specialized subject matter experts to deliver comprehensive, bespoke solutions for business owners and executives.
He holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®), Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA®), and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designations. His work centers on preparing clients for liquidity events, guiding acquisitions and exits, protecting capital through market cycles, and aligning financial and business decisions with long-term personal and family objectives.
Michael is recognized for helping clients avoid reactive, value-destroying decisions and remain anchored to disciplined, long-term financial and enterprise strategies across all economic conditions—essentially, a proven track record of talking smart people out of making expensive mistakes at the worst possible time.
Outside of his professional work, he enjoys time with his wife, Sandy, their seven children, and a growing family of grandchildren. He maintains an active lifestyle through strength training, cycling, swimming, hiking, and a determined pursuit of improving his golf game.
