Sonia Katyal,
CFP® Financial Planning ConsultantMore than helping her clients plan for retirement, invest for their children’s education or put together an estate plan, Sonia seeks to be her clients’ collaborative partner through all of life’s milestones. She wants clients to fully understand their finances so they can have confidence in their futures and focus on life’s more important things. Investing is a cornerstone of financial planning, but before that, Sonia seeks to know her clients, their goals, their achievements, their fears and their hopes for their families. Only by taking this time, she believes, can investments support her clients’ greater goals.
Sonia has been helping individuals and families with these weighty matters for more than 25 years, drawn to the opportunity to help people pursue well-being for themselves and their families.
As part of her practice, she also collaborates with her clients’ CPAs, attorneys and other members of their financial team. She serves a wide range of clients, but particularly focuses on retirement planning, education planning and wealth management for pre-retirees, retirees and physicians, particularly. She also works with families contemplating some of life’s biggest questions, including health, maintaining independence in their golden years and the legacies parents want to leave to their children.
Sonia joined with Raymond James in 2006, drawn to the firm’s commitment to providing goal-oriented financial planning and investment advice that put the client first. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Rutgers University. Sonia is also a Certified Financial Planner™ professional, a designation reflecting her completion of rigorous professional training on the comprehensive, personalized financial planning process.
Originally from India, Sonia has lived in the U.S. since 1980 and grew up in New Jersey. She briefly lived in Toronto, but then moved to Huntsville in 1997. She and her husband, Deepak, have two children.
To support the community, Sonia supports the Madison County Medical Alliance, currently serving as its president.
