Shelby is grateful to her parent’s unwavering interest in teaching her about finance and planting the seeds for her future career: helping others achieve their financial objectives. To learn and share her knowledge suited Shelby just fine. “Today, all I want for my clients is to help them build confidence when approaching and already in retirement, and to remain financially successful throughout various market cycles,” she says.
Shelby’s extensive career began as a bank broker before opting for corporate banking for 10 years. When an opportunity arose, she joined Merrill Lynch, building a client base there for five years. Shelby joined Edward Jones before finding her home at Raymond James in October 2016.
Graduating from Hagerstown Community College and Shepherd College with degrees in accounting and business, Shelby earned her master’s degree from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, in 1994. She is an Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS), Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS) and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor® (CRPC®).
Shelby’s specific services are pre-retirement and retirement planning, asset preservation and women in investing.
Shelby was recognized by the Hagerstown-Washington Chamber of Commerce in 2006 as Small Business Person of the Year and served as a board member. She also served as a board member and chair of the Washington County Economic Development Commission. Shelby won Hagerstown’s Historic Preservation Award for redevelopment of 140 South Potomac Street.
She is a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and its church ministry. She likes to play golf and tennis and participate in family activities.
