Phil began his career decades ago as a 401(k), deferred comp, and insurance consultant for U.S. and multinational companies. He was dismayed that hardworking employees were putting money into investments without the benefit of any research or planning. After many years of working with high level corporate employees, Phil decided to exit the consultant industry but was still motivated to help people with their financial and insurance needs.
This prompted Phil to become an Investment Advisor with Edward Jones and began a lifelong process of licenses, designations, and continual education. At the time Edward Jones did not have planning software, so Phil took the initiative to purchase some graph paper and develop investment plans, which he updated by hand during each client review.
After four years of sore wrists, his CPA introduced him to a Vice President with Raymond James. After a three-day visit to the St. Petersburg campus, Phil knew he had found a new home with like-minded people who placed the same high value on the planning process that he did.
Today, Phil is an Independent Investment Management Consultant* who has been managing his clients’ family and business financial affairs for more than 40 years. He provides individualized financial strategies and legacy planning for families and business owners. In addition to long-term financial planning, Phil counsels his clients about risk management, helping them understand the need for saving and insuring against the unexpected events that life can present.
His goal for his clients is that they can retire comfortably, leave a legacy for their children and favorite charitable organizations, and be comfortable with their plan so they don’t have to think about it between review meetings.
Phil is a graduate of the Smeal College of Business at Penn State University and is proud of the four years he had to work and play for Penn State football coach Joe Paterno. In 2008 Philip completed the 18-month coursework for the Emory University Financial Planning Certificate.
Phil has been active in serving his community throughout his life and career. He is a member of First Baptist Jonesboro, where he has been a Sunday school teacher and school director and done missionary work building church buildings and medical facilities.
As chairman of the Southern Regional Medical Center foundations and corporations committee from 1978 to 1996, Phil helped raise $75 million for the women’s health wing.
Phil served as Centennial President of Rotary International from 2004 to 2005. He is a member of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce and a board member of Fayette Alliance Coordinating Teamwork, Outreach and Resources. He is also a member of the Financial Services Institute and the charter member of the Eldercare Matters Network. He has also served on the board of his homeowners association and is currently chairman of the Executive Business Park condo board where the office is located.
Phil was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, but over the course of his life he has lived in six different states and a foreign country. Today he lives in the Atlanta suburb of Jonesboro with Debra, his wife of 36 years. Phil enjoys, woodworking, gardening, and travel.
