How Are You Going to Make 2025 Your Best Year Ever?

If you’re like me, you’re wondering how half the month of January is gone already. There’s no time to waste, the year is flying by. What are you going to do to make 2025 your best year ever? When I am thinking about my goals for each new year, I focus on incremental improvements, not sweeping changes to my business or personal life that may not be realistic or things I’m not even really committed to. Incremental improvements. Think of the book “Atomic Habits” by James Clear. Because it’s all about habits. If we have the right daily habits that move us towards our goals, then we can achieve them. Without those habits, we won’t. Once we form a habit, less discipline is required to stick with it. It’s already a part of the fabric of your day or your week. Tony Robbins speaks to this all the time. He has been extremely helpful to me over the years, whether it be reading his books or listening to his podcasts. How do you start your day? I have learned that it is crucial for me to ‘own the morning.’ It sets the tone for the entire day. I don’t reach for my phone first thing. I write in my gratitude journal, listen to a positive message and move my body in some way (from an intense workout to maybe just 20 minutes of stretching). When our daughter was younger, owning the morning was much more difficult, so it may not work for you in your current situation. Implement something that does. Maybe you just need to get up an hour earlier than everyone else in your house, which means you need to go to bed an hour earlier. Certainly, it’s easier said than done. It’s up to you to decide what you want to commit to.

If you haven’t started thinking about your goals for 2025 yet, or of one habit to insert into your daily routine, pick one thing to work on right now and do it today. For example, if you’re looking at a seemingly insurmountable mess in your bedroom, your basement, etc., don’t get overwhelmed or wait until you have eight hours to do a massive cleaning day. Pick one thing you can do in 10 minutes, put one thing away, hang one picture or clean out that junk drawer. If you don’t have an hour to exercise, do 10 push-ups, 10 body squats or 10 jumping jacks, or go for a brisk 15- to 20-minute walk. You will feel a sense of accomplishment that will give you energy to keep going down that path, and in a month or two, you’ll be amazed at what you’ve achieved, and what habits are part of your routine.

In 2025, what do you want more of? What do you want less of? Who do want to spend your time with? What are your ‘musts’ vs. your ‘shoulds.’ Hint: We never achieve our ‘shoulds,’ for example I should eat better, I should exercise more, I should save more/spend less money, I should spend more time with my children/spouse/family, etc. Change the word should to must if it’s something that is vital to you and your purpose.

Besides Tony Robbins, other folks I listen to are Simon Sinek, Joel Osteen, Jim Rohn, Jordan Peterson, Ryan Holiday and Wayne Dyer. I find them to be helpful to get my mind right, keep myself focused on what truly matters, help me become the best version of myself. There are so many to choose from, pick a few that you can relate to or that resonate with you. Start your day with a great message.

Lastly, what are you grateful for? Write it down. Tape it to your bathroom mirror so you see it every morning as you’re getting ready for the day and then at night when you’re getting ready for bed. One of my favorite quotes is from Eckhart Tolle: “Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation of all abundance.”

I wish you good luck this year. I hope you’re able to make it your best ever.

Best Regards,

Gabor
