For over 40 years, Jim Morton has provided highly personalized wealth management services to a select group of clients. He has helped both aspiring and seasoned Financial Advisors to develop successful practices.
With his clients, Jim looks to build long-term relationships. To identify his clients’ future goals and current needs, Jim has developed a comprehensive, multi-step consultative process that begins by listening. Whether the outcome is managing wealth, deriving an income during retirement, or preserving and passing along a legacy, Jim can help, always with an eye for tax efficiency.
The development of entry-level advisors is his specialty. Jim has built a one-of-a-kind summer intern program as the foundation of new advisor development. New advisors are teamed with an experienced mentor and participate in Raymond James AMP (Advisor Mastery Program) to complete their training.
Experienced advisors can benefit from Jim’s expertise, accumulated from decades of supervising and developing hundreds of advisors. Whether an advisor is looking for support to grow their practice or is looking for a succession plan, Jim can help!
Jim is dedicated to life-long learning. To that end, he has achieved the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designation, the Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®) designation, and the designation of Certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC). Jim earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Jim and his wife, Kathy, reside in Sugar Grove, Illinois. In addition to managing their financial practice together, they have two children. Their daughter, Marissa, graduated from Loyola University in Chicago and is now an advisor with the firm. Their son, Jimmy, graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University, majoring in Accounting, and is pursuing a professional golf career. Jim’s academic and professional life has allowed him to live and work across the U.S., including Massachusetts, Oregon, and Illinois. As a result, he is a great conversationalist and relishes meeting new people and sharing life experiences.
In his free time, he cheers on the Chicago White Sox and is an avid golfer – he enjoys playing and watching his son compete. He is also a “foodie,” often cooking for his friends and family and taking an interest in the local cuisine wherever he has lived.
