The founding member of Next Level Financial Planning, an independent practice, I am a Certified Financial Planner™ professional providing financial planning and wealth management services. My wife Katie and I are proud parents of three sons. As a family, we enjoy spending time fishing, boating, hunting, and camping. I am committed to my faith, family, clients, and to making a difference in my community.
I started my financial planning and wealth management career in 2004. After previously spending two years living internationally, I returned to Idaho and graduated from Idaho State University in 2002 with my Bachelors in Business Administration. I quickly took a job working in finance and accounting. Weeks after I started, I met an investment advisor who introduced me to the financial planning community, and as they say, “the rest is history”. I truly found my career and purpose. In 2007, I started my independent practice and later earned the credentials to become a Certified Financial Planner™ professional. I enjoy speaking engagements, writing about behavioral finance, and spending time with other professionals, helping them achieve Next Level financial success.
I strongly believe that real financial planning is not an event. It is a continuous process of clearly assessing where you are, taking specific actions, and then re-assessing your progress. My purpose is to listen to what is most important to you, and to clearly understand where you are and where you want to be. I will help you narrow in the range of potential outcomes over time, getting you to where you want to be. Inevitably, your life will change as we plan. This style of consistent planning helps us recognize when a course correction or an adjustment needs to happen.
Next level is defined as; “a better, more advanced, or more successful situation than before”. Getting to the Next Level requires you to be intentional and deliberate in your decisions. What you do today affects what you can choose to do tomorrow.
Three words that describe me: Diligent, Thoughtful, Committed
Current Favorite Quote: What we do today affects what we can choose to do tomorrow.” George Kinder
What I am happiest doing when I’m not at the office: Winter – Nestled into my favorite chair reading a book. Spring – Playing on a court, either tennis or pickleball & golfing. Summer – On the lake, in a surf boat, with family and friends. Fall – Outdoors, in the mountains, with my boys.
Books that have made an impact:
Behavior Gap by Carl Richards
Spend Your Life Wisely by Ross Levin
Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel
Favorite Vacation Spot: On a warm beach. If I stay close to home, summers in McCall have all the ingredients of a great getaway for the McCarney Family. Water, beaches, pine trees, campfires, and huckleberries.
