10 things my clients should know
- I will never lie to you. Experience has taught me that some things we believe to be true now may turn out to not be true in the future, but I will never intentionally mislead a client.
- I will always tell you what I believe you need to hear, even if it is not necessarily what you want to hear.
- I do not sugar coat anything. My role is to provide you with the information you need to make informed decisions.
- Many investors make their decisions by reacting to fear or greed. My role is to help my clients to think logically and attempt to avoid the pitfalls of emotional overreaction.
- Everyone has access to an incomprehensible amount of information. I offer perspective and help my clients focus on what is actually important to them and filter out the noise.
- I affiliate my practice with Raymond James, so my clients get the benefit of an independent advisor (no pressure to “sell” certain products, including proprietary products, and no sales quotas) and all the products, services and stability of a large firm.
- In the short term, markets are moved by the 3 M’s – mood, money, and momentum. In the long term, they are driven by fundamentals.
- I help people who do not have the time, knowledge, or inclination to manage their own investments or do their own financial planning.
- Everything is a double‐edged sword.
- Learn to control what you can control and do not stress about things you can’t control.
