In addition to managing our practice as chief financial officer and being an active member of our investment committee, the role that Kellie always puts first is serving our clients as a trusted financial advisor. “My overall goal is to help clients with all their goals in life, be they financial or nonfinancial. I want to assist them in any way I can.”
Kellie is a people person and truly enjoys getting to know our clients and becoming part of their lives. “I view each of them as a friend and find great enjoyment in learning all about them, whether it’s what school their grandkids were accepted to, what vacation they’re planning or who they met at the local market,” Kellie says. “I want our clients to feel as if I’m a part of their family and I’m not just a suit sitting across from them charging management fees,” she says.
Kellie’s strong educational background and financial experience enable her to offer prudent advice on a wide range of important financial matters – from planning for retirement to selling a business to buying rental property.
Kellie uses her experience as a Certified Public Accountant to effectively communicate with our clients’ CPAs about complicated tax matters, while also informing and educating our clients about the issues at hand. She is an Accredited Asset Management Specialist℠ and holds Series 7 and 66 securities licenses and California life, accident and health insurance licenses (#0N08511).
Kellie joined Owens Estate & Wealth Strategies Group in 2018 and feels that “working within a small community focused on helping our neighbors is much more rewarding than working in a big city.”
She transitioned with the team to Raymond James in 2021. “Raymond James frequently uses the phrase ‘our business is people and their financial well-being.’ I relate to this because the client really is in charge and fully supported at Raymond James,” Kellie says.
Previously in her career, Kellie worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in San Francisco, where she was part of the industry tax practice group focused on federal corporate taxation for multibillion-dollar corporations. She coordinated her efforts with specialty groups in transfer pricing, international taxation, state and local taxation, and mergers and acquisitions to serve clients across the globe.
She is a graduate of California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a concentration in accounting, and a Master of Science in accounting with a specialization in taxation.
