Matt joined Slaggie Capital Group in 2014. He soon enrolled in Raymond James’ Advisor Mastery Program and earned his licenses to become a Financial Advisor, then went on to earn the Accredited Asset Management SpecialistSM designation in 2015, and his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in 2017. These were all obtained through extensive training, exams and background checks, and are maintained through a commitment to continuing education and adhering to strict ethical criteria.
Before joining Slaggie Capital Group, Matt graduated from Marquette University with a BA in Advertising. He previously worked as Team Sales Manager at WinCraft, Inc., where he collaborated directly with professional sports teams’ retail and promotional departments on the procurement of licensed products. He cultivated deep interpersonal relationships with both clients and coworkers by listening, being accountable and going the extra mile to ensure success.
He prides himself on bringing the Raymond James Institutional Process to the everyday investor. This consultative process gives his clients access to the same type of planning, execution and management that is usually reserved for high-net-worth individuals or institutions. Matt specializes with small business owners, medical professionals, and select families, especially those with an emphasis needed on multigenerational planning.
Matt strives to make his clients feel at ease. Through open and clear communication, he helps identify what really matters to his clients and then develops investment strategies that are suitable to help accomplish them. By managing expectations, this allows the client to do what they do best; focus on and continue to grow their practice/business, gain clarity and pursue comfort in their lives.
With a foundation of attending Catholic schools, he believes in treating others how they want to be treated. He also believes that each action is capable of a profound reaction. He believes in the power of a “hello”, but also as important is a simple “thank you”.
He has been active in the community through many facets. As a long time blood donor, Matt has helped save lives by donating over 10 gallons in his lifetime. He is an active member of the Winona Civic Association and serves as Treasurer of the Slaggie Family Foundation. He previously served on the boards of the Winona Area Red Cross and the Catholic Schools Foundation.
Matt moved back to Winona to be near family, friends, and to raise a family in this great community. His wife, Lindsay, three daughters, Lila (11), Mia (9) and Camilla (6), and two dogs, Winnie and Randy Moss, keep him occupied at home. Some of his hobbies include running and biking. He likes to cook, but loves to eat. He is passionate about many things, but most eager to converse about traveling, any type of food or restaurant, or interesting shows that he can watch once his family goes to bed.
