Bill Smith is a Raymond James Financial Advisor and partner in the office of Smith and Elis in Branford, CT. With over 15 years of experience in the finance industry, he holds his series 6, 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses. Bill graduated with a B.A. in financial management from the Catholic University of America, and began his finance career in 2002 at Waddell and Reed in Hartford, CT. Building on the success he and his clients enjoyed during his employment there and subsequently with A.J Edwards and Wells Fargo Advisors, Bill happily opened his Branford office with partner Keith Elis in 2014. His talent is in designing strategic investment strategies for individuals, businesses and family trusts that help position them for success in today’s market and meet their unique goals.

Prior to his investment career, Bill obtained his 100 Ton U.S. Merchant Marine Officer Masters license as the captain of a 120-foot crew boat in the Gulf of Mexico oil and gas industry. He continues to enjoy his time on the water as the family owner of the Thimble Islands Ferry in Stony Creek, which he captains on many summer weekends.

He lives with his wife, Jenny, a professional writer and instructor at Albertus Magnus College, and their two sons, age 10 and 12, in Branford, CT. The family enjoys being active members of St Mary’s Church and of the local shoreline community.
