Goal Setting: Fact and Fiction

Wednesday, September 15, 2021
6:00pm to 7:15pm via ZOOM

Taught by: Irene Nizzero MA, PCC - Executive and Personal Coach, Sudbury, ON

The world is intent on telling us that success hinges on our ability to set goals and achieve them. Annual employee reviews revolve around them, we raise our kids to strive for them, and our fitness programs are built on them. However, research and life experience paint a different picture. What is the role of goal setting versus “taking life as it comes” or setting intentions? In this dynamic workshop, the pros and cons of being goal-driven will be discussed as well as different kinds of goals and their outcomes. Because when all is said and done, not all goals are created equally.

During this presentation, these are some questions we’ll explore:

  • What makes a solid goal?
  • How can goals help…and hurt you?
  • Does motivation solve everything?
  • What is a powerful alternative to setting a goal?

The Yoga of Money

Saturday, November 21st

Patricia Healey

How we are "on the mat" or the meditation cushion can be a metaphor for how we engage with our life. The process is circular, we bring who we are to the practice; and the practice, if we are mindful, comes "off the mat and into the world." Even our financial well being is connected to the way we hold our energy and use our body. If you don't know where your foot is, how can you find your footing in your life?

Paying attention, mindfully aligning your body, breath, and actions is the doorway to a more fully integrated, joyful and prosperous being.

In this class, Patricia will teach you how to apply these principles of the yogi to the everyday practice of building a joyful and successful life.

The journey to the TEDx stage was not an easy one. Two years ago, I tried out and was turned down. This was a devastating failure for me and brutal on my self-esteem. It left me questioning my purpose and led me into a spiral of self-questioning and doubt. It was a major turning point in my life.

Then a year ago, I was approached by a TEDx organizer who had seen me speak about dating and the inequality between men and women. They asked if I might be interested in applying to talk about that topic. Read more

  • 7 principles of personal financial behaviour
  • 3 factors that affect our relationship with money
  • The basic principles of behavioural finance and their consequences in the field of personal financial planning
  • Ways to overcome your own biases and patterns to achieve a better, more successful and peaceful financial life

Moving From Shadow Into Light
Beginning October 3rd, 2016

As humans, we embody both light and darkness. Our shadow may manifest itself as fear, shame, anger, judgment, or insecurity. We experience it in how we feel about ourselves. And we can see it in our dealings with others, the world around us and even in our finances! When we learn to accept that we are both shadow and light, we open the pathway to experience true transformation

Imagine how different the world would be if we held people, and ourselves, in light rather than in their shadow.

Imagine what it would feel like to radiate your own true spiritual light and connect to universal energy and the source of all healing.

Through ancient shamanic practice, this series of three consecutive workshops will lead you on a metamorphic journey where you welcome your whole self unconditionally and experience deep and transformative healing.

Sony Baron, MA, MA, is a gifted therapist, divorce coach, shaman and teacher and will be facilitating this life changing workshop. Read more about Sony

Wealth Academy for Women
Sophia Wealth Academy a resounding success!

We’ve done it again! For the seventh time, Sophia Wealth Academy has raised money and awareness. And again, we are pleased to say that all net proceeds were donated to Dress for success to help women become self-sufficient.

Over 200 women joined us at the Scottish Cultural Centre to get money jazzed. Our dynamic speakers generously donated their time and expertise and enough money was raised to put 25 women through the comprehensive job education programs offered by Dress for Success.

Tracy Theemes taught us key investing strategies and helped us look at the money” sludge” in our lives. Kamal Basra and Sheila Walkington gave an overview of the financial planning basics. Career coach Marlene Delanghe gave a fast paced and entertaining overview of career strategies and salary pitfalls. Sanjeet Rana gave a view from the branch manager’s perspective of banking. Cynthia Roney helped us look at breakthrough strategies for success and Carrie Gallant taught us how to negotiate more effectively.

We laughed, we cried, we digested and we got motivated to take on our financial power. The audience was lively, adding their own humour and wisdom to he mix. A great time was had by all. Our thanks to all who participated and our appreciation to Dress for Success for the excellent work they do in our community.
