Raymond James Cares Month

Spanos Group in Beaver, PA Supports Our Troops

During the month of August, our office served as a drop off location for donations to benefit a local organization called the Yellow Ribbon Girls. In total, we collected over 1,000 supplies and treats ranging from toiletries to greeting cards. We also received monetary donations for postage and 200 children’s books - written for children missing a parent who is away serving our country.

The Yellow Ribbon Girls provide monthly care packages to deployed service men and women and have a presence in 13 countries. They started with a few yellow ribbons and pins and have made over 10,000 bows and pins of every size imaginable. With the donations from the bows and pins and with the help of others, they have been able to ship over 38,000 packages. “Even though major combat is over, our troops struggle daily to survive. Their efforts barely make the news, but the attacks they suffer every day are real. We must continue to pray for them, their mission and their families” – Yellow Ribbon Girls

Our team hosted a month-long collection to benefit The Women’s Center to help victims of domestic violence. The items collected included gift cards, cleaning/kitchen supplies, personal care items, toiletries, children’s toys, clothing, food and coffee. The Women's Center of Beaver County is the only comprehensive domestic violence and sexual assault resource center in our area. Itsupports, shelters, advocates and educates to promote cultural change and end violence. Raymond James is not affiliated with The Women’s Center of Beaver County.

In support of RJ Cares, our team also volunteered at Global Links, a non-profit organization that donates over 650 tons of surplus and gently used and still-valuable medical supplies each year to resource poor communities. Our duty was sorting through over 1,000 pairs of scrub pants, determine which ones were of a high enough quality to either be donated locally or internationally, and then packaged them accordingly.

The Spanos Group participated in two activities, first calling on members of their team as well as clients, family and friends to collect items for the Women’s Center of Beaver County to assist victims of domestic violence. Items collected included bath towels, bottled water, paper products, drinking glasses, utensils, coffee and cereal.

The team also volunteered after hours, working with the Agape Mobile Soup Kitchen located in Aliquippa, PA to package and deliver homemade meals to approximately 40 homeless and disabled individuals.
