Paul graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. After moving to the Washington, D.C., area in 1999, he attended the Elliott Waldorf School of International Affairs at George Washington University, specializing in international trade and finance. Paul launched his career as a pit trader at the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, a role that led to his position as a grain trader with AC Toepfer, a Hamburg, Germany-based trading house. He later spent five years as Research Director for the National Coalition for Advanced Manufacturing in Washington, D.C., sharpening his understanding of economic systems and organizational strategy. Prior to joining Raymond James in 2019, Paul served as a financial advisor with UBS since 2006, bringing over a decade of experience and holding Series 7 and 66 licenses.
As the team’s Investment Lead, Paul drives our investment vision with exceptional leadership and expertise. He spearheads investment strategy development, oversees market and economic analysis, guides investment selection, and directs portfolio construction. His deep insight into global markets and organizational priorities enables him to craft strategies that align seamlessly with our nonprofit clients’ goals. Paul excels at communicating our current investment philosophy, ensuring clients feel confident and supported as he works alongside them in the boardroom to address their unique needs. Paul and his wife, Stephanie, have three children, live in Bethesda, and he is an avid Crossfitter.
