A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Robert Shy is a graduate of Southern Methodist University where he earned a Bachelors of Business Administration. Starting in 1987, his experience in his role as a Vice President, Wealth Management of The Strategic Alliance Group of Raymond James, covers the gamut of investments, from institutional, U.S. Government and corporate bond trading to hedge funds including managed futures and direct private equity investments. Mr. Shy has also earned the Accredited Wealth Management Advisor (AWMA®) and the Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA) designations.
After a 28 year stint in Nashville, Robert moved back to his home of Memphis in 2017 and got married to his first love Natalie Carr Bell. He has two lovely girls, Charlotte who is a Physician’s Assistant (PA) at the Bone & Joint Institute in Franklin Tennessee and Genevieve who is an aesthetician in Nashville. He is a certified shooting instructor and is a coach for the nationally ranked St. Mary’s High School trap shooting team. Additionally, he is a perennial Habitat for Humanity volunteer as well as with Project Healing Waters; a prior member of the United Way Senate Society, Belle Meade Country Club and First Presbyterian Church. He is an avid outdoors-man enjoying fly fishing, hunting and the occasional round of golf at Chickasaw Country Club.
