Richard S. Carlquist is the founder of Deep Dive Financial Planning Group and brings over 30 years of experience as a financial advisor to assist his clients toward achieving their goals and objectives. He is both an investment advisory representative and registered representative with Raymond James. Richard is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional.

Richard works with a handful of families across the country. His primary focus is multi-generational family wealth planning and investment management for families preparing for retirement. He also provides investment advice to non-profit organizations along with assisting surviving spouses with the variety of transitional financial matters they face.

Richard’s financial career started in 1995 after retiring as a special operations officer in the United States Navy. He graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1980 and received an MBA from Honolulu’s Chaminade University in 1992 with an emphasis in taxation.

Since giving back is important to Richard, he has frequently presented to both his peers at professional meetings as well as to the community at a variety of venues. He is member of several organizations including the Estate Planning Council of San Diego and the Financial Planning Association.

Richard is a trustee for the US Naval Academy Foundation in Annapolis, Maryland. Locally, he is a past president of Estate Planning Council of San Diego and former member of the Cathedral Catholic High School finance committee. He recently completed over 10 years of service on the Board of the San Diego Chapter of the US Naval Academy Alumni Association and is a past director of diocesan education for the Diocese of San Diego. Committed to financial education, he taught basic investing classes to San Diego based sailors and marines for over 20 years.
