Michael W. Cartwright, CFP® has been a financial advisor in the Chattanooga community since 1984. This hands-on experience and longevity in the investment community has allowed Michael to bring a truly long term view, coupled with a tempered, steady hand and a patient demeanor to the advice and counseling he provides his friends and clients.
IDS/American Express was the launching pad for Michael's career in 1984 and he was promoted to field trainer. In 1986 he moved on to J.J.B. Hilliard, W.L. Lyons & Company, a Louisville, Kentucky based Broker/Dealer, as an Investment Broker. When Hilliard Lyons left Chattanooga in 1988, Mike helped in the formation of First Financial Services, the investment subsidiary of First Federal Savings & Loan and became its Manager in 1991. With the First Federal/AmSouth Bank merger, he became Vice President and Senior Investment Officer of AmSouth Investment Services of Tennessee and an Officer of the Bank. His responsibilities included all investment operations for the state of Tennessee.
In 1993 Michael established an independent branch office of LPL Financial. The establishment of Cartwright, Hitching and Frazier, Private Wealth Management had a tremendous positive impact on his clients and allowed for the natural synergy and flow of ideas that accompany the team approach. At the end of 2014, Cartwright Hitching & Frazier was acquired by Lawson Winchester Wealth and Mike became affiliated with Raymond James Financial Services (RJFS).
Michael is a graduate of The College of Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado and was awarded the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification by the Certified Financial Planning Board of Standards of Washington, D.C.. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), Denver, CO. he received his ABS in Senior Accounting at McKenzie College in 1984 and was named Outstanding Accounting Student for that year. He has received dual international degrees: a BA degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of Business and International Studies (UBIS) in Geneva, Switzerland and a BS in International Business from Potomac University in Washington, D.C. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and Summa Cum Laude respectively. Michael is a lifelong learner with a passion for Economics, Business and International Events.
Outside his profession Michael has a rich array of hobbies and is an active member of the Chattanooga community. He has served on the Board of Deacons at his family's church and Chairman of Deacons and Treasurer in previous church positions since the age of 28. He has served as Cubmaster of Bright School's Pack 3034 and served on the Advisory Board of Habitat for Humanity in the Chattanooga Area. He is a year 2000 graduate of the Panoz Racing School of Road Atlanta. Through Cartwright Motorsports, Inc., Michael owned, sponsored, and drove a BMW 325is race car at the major race tracks throughout the Southeast from 2000 to 2005. Among his favorite hobbies is his love of stamp collecting and is a member of the American Philatelic Society and the American Helvetia Philatelic Society. He is also the creator of the once published daily cartoon strip "RATZENKATS". He resides on Signal Mountain with his wife of 35 years, Cindy and their son Daniel.
