Van Pearcy
Van Pearcy, MBA, AIF® President, Van Pearcy’s Wealth Services Team Branch Manager/Registered Principal/Financial Advisor, RJFS

Over the past 30-plus years, Van Pearcy has built a reputation for delivering solid financial planning and service to select businesses and families throughout the U.S. He and his experienced team build strong relationships with clients, creating truly personalized, comprehensive wealth strategies that run the gamut from basic needs to complex goals. His team’s specialty is helping the wonderful people who provide energy and help feed this nation, drawing on Van’s family’s deep roots in the oil & gas and farming & ranching industries.

Van has been named to the Forbes “Best-In-State Wealth Advisors” list* (2018-2020), Forbes “America’s Top Wealth Advisors” list** (2017-2019), Barron’s “America’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisors” list*** (2015-2020), Barron’s “Top 100 Independent Financial Advisors” list**** (2015-2019), and the FT “400 Top Financial Advisers” list***** (2016-2020).

Van is a dedicated advocate for his community and sits on the board of governors of Midland Children’s Rehabilitation Center, the endowment board of St. Ann’s Catholic School, and the board of the Midland Firemen’s Relief and Retirement Fund. Van also kept close to his sports roots as a board member of the University of Notre Dame’s Monogram Club for more than a decade, and currently as a board member of the Texas Angus Association in Ft. Worth.

Van’s storied career began in West Texas in high school on the track and football field which turned into a two-sport scholarship at the University of Notre Dame. At the Golden Dome, he found success in both his studies and athletics, including football and track, and he began making a big plan to play in the NFL. But by his junior year, four knee surgeries had forced him off the Irish field, and Van’s big plan changed.

As he considered what to do next, he had a moment of clarity about what’s most important to people: their families, their health, and their success. He came to understand that a key factor in taking care of these priorities is having the means to do so – and so began his journey to help people plan for what they value most by helping them plan financially.

A native of Andrews, Texas, Van earned his B.S. degree in economics and his M.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame. While completing his undergraduate work, Van was a starting wide receiver for the Fighting Irish, as well as track and field captain.

Van and his wife, Donna, reside in Midland, Texas. Erin, their daughter, is married and works as a land administrator/GIS analyst in Austin, and their son, Vance, joined Van’s team in early 2016. Van’s interests outside of the office include registered Black Angus cattle ranching, farming, track and field, golf, fishing, hunting, antique cars, and art.

*The Forbes ranking of Best-In-State Wealth Advisors, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative criteria, mostly gained through telephone and in-person due diligence interviews, and quantitative data. Those advisors that are considered have a minimum of seven years of experience, and the algorithm weights factors like revenue trends, assets under management, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass best practices in their practices and approach to working with clients. Portfolio performance is not a criteria due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Out of approximately 32,000 nominations, more than 4,000 advisors received the award. This ranking is not indicative of advisor's future performance, is not an endorsement, and may not be representative of individual clients' experience. Neither Raymond James nor any of its Financial Advisors or RIA firms pay a fee in exchange for this award/rating. Raymond James is not affiliated with Forbes or Shook Research, LLC. **The Forbes ranking of America's Top Wealth Advisors, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative and quantitative data, rating thousands of wealth advisors with a minimum of seven years of experience. Ranking algorithm is based on quality of practice, including: telephone and in-person interviews, client retention, industry experience, review of compliance records, firm nominations; and quantitative criteria, including: assets under management and revenue generated for their firms. Investment performance is not a criteria because client objectives and risk tolerances vary, and advisors rarely have audited performance reports. Rankings are based on the opinions of SHOOK Research, LLC which does not receive compensation from the advisors or their firms in exchange for placement on the ranking. Research Summary (as of August 2019): 30,691 Advisor nominations were received, based on thresholds. 12,258 Advisors were invited to complete the online survey. 12,498 Advisors were interviewed by telephone. 2,279 Advisors were interviewed in-person at the Advisors' location. *****The Financial Times 400 Top Financial Advisors is an independent listing produced annually by Ignites Research, a division of Money-Media, Inc., on behalf of the Financial Times (April 2020). To qualify for the list, advisers had to have 10 years of experience and at least $300 million in assets under management (AUM) and no more than 60% of the AUM with institutional clients. The FT reaches out to some of the largest brokerages in the U.S. and asks them to provide a list of advisors who meet the minimum criteria outlined above. These advisors are then invited to apply for the ranking. Only advisors who submit an online application can be considered for the ranking.  In 2020, roughly 1,040 applications were received and 400 were selected to the final list (38.5%).  The 400 qualified advisers were then scored on six attributes: AUM, AUM growth rate, compliance record, years of experience, industry certifications, and online accessibility. AUM is the top factor, accounting for roughly 60-70 percent of the applicant's score. Additionally, to provide a diversity of advisors, the FT placed a cap on the number of advisors from any one state that's roughly correlated to the distribution of millionaires across the U.S. The ranking may not be representative of any one client's experience, is not an endorsement, and is not indicative of advisor's future performance.
