George E. Mathis III is a Managing Director and Senior Vice President, Wealth Management with Mathis Wealth Management of Raymond James. He joined Raymond James in 2011 and started his career at A.G. Edwards and Sons in 2000. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his role as a financial advisor having serviced The Villages and their residents for their financial needs for nearly 19 years. His diverse background and training enable him to help clients to pursue their long-term financial goals through comprehensive, individualized financial planning.
Mr. Mathis strongly believes that a comprehensive approach is required to provide quality advice about a client’s finances; one must consider a client’s tax strategy, risk tolerances, and time horizons while managing investments. Specializing in investment analysis, he works closely with clients to develop a customized financial strategy that incorporates asset allocation, financial management, retirement planning, college planning and succession planning. With this client-focused, comprehensive plan in place, Mr. Mathis and his team strive each day, working one on one with their clients, to help them pursue their goals, regularly reviewing performance, financial goals, and economic and lifestyle conditions to make adjustments as needed. Helping people, whether it’s planning for retirement, creating retirement income strategies, wealth transfer, or college expenses, is truly Mr. Mathis’s passion.
Mr. Mathis currently holds Series 7 and 66 securities licenses, as well as his Wealth Management Specialist designation from Kaplan University and the Accredited Asset Management Specialist℠ certification from the College of Financial Planning.
Mr. Mathis was recently recognized as a member of the Raymond James Chairman’s Council for 2020.* He has been a featured writer in several publications on financial markets and advice, such as The Villages Magazine, V-Life Magazine, and Healthy Living Magazine, and was profiled in the June, 2013 Ocala Magazine’s section of “The Men of Influence” and was mentioned in their “People of Influence” in 2012, as well.** An avid traveler, George has been to over 47 countries. He is also a father to his son George Edward Mathis IV. He is actively involved with his community by being on the Regional County Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society and the Jacob Casey Foundation as creating the Bikes for Tykes which hands out approximately 500 new bicycles to children in need during the holidays each year. He also is involved in The Wounded Warriors, March of Dimes and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and provides support to several local and church charities.
