Steelman works closely with affluent families and individuals to develop, implement and manage a financial plan that is well thought out and designed to address all aspects of their financial lives.
His comprehensive approach goes beyond just investment planning to include essential financial matters such as estate planning, cash management, insurance, legacy planning and philanthropy.
Steelman takes a sincere interest in his clients and takes the time to really get to know them. “I feel that over time, they come to realize that I know them as people and friends, not just clients,” says Steelman. “I care about their well-being, both financially and personally.”
He wants his clients to have complete confidence in the strategy he puts together for them and know that he has their best interest at heart. “It is very important that we form a strong bond based on trust and respect,” he says.
Steelman has 24 years of experience in the financial services industry. He joined Raymond James in April 2022. “I wanted a strong partner with an excellent reputation when it came to ethics and execution,” Steelman says. “Raymond James stood out because it was very clear that it would never put me in a position to compromise the relationship I had with my clients.”
Previously in his career, he spent 20 years at Wells Fargo Advisors, where he was the Managing Director of Investments. Earlier, he was a Financial Advisor at UBS and J.C. Bradford & Co. He is a graduate of the College of Charleston.
Active in the community, Steelman has served as a volunteer with Boy Scouts of America and various charitable organizations, and has coached children in various sports.
Steelman is originally from Gloucester, Virginia, and today lives in Columbia, South Carolina, with his wife, Alysia. They have three children, Steelman, Anna and Mae. In his free time, he enjoys travel, reading, exercise, fishing, boating and all outdoor activities. He is a member of First Presbyterian Church.
