Ken established his CPA practice in 1985 and is president of Whittaker Cooper Financial Group, and Branch Manager with Raymond James Financial Services. He has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry – as a CPA since 1981 and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional since 1999.
He has represented clients in the medical, dental and legal communities, as well as real estate development and heavy and light manufacturing industries. He establishes a trusted and personal partnership with each client, and integrates their accounting needs* with financial planning to help them identify and realize their true financial potential.
Ken holds numerous professional credentials. As a Certified Public Accountant and Personal Financial Specialist, he offers the powerful combination of extensive tax proficiency and comprehensive knowledge of financial planning. Every area of your plan has potential tax implications, and Ken helps ensure that these issues are addressed and integrated into each client’s overall financial plan.
As a Chartered Financial Consultant®, he is skilled in developing a comprehensive financial approach designed to help clients build an investment plan, manage taxes and risk, secure their retirement, and enhance the value of their estate. As a Chartered Life Underwriter, he is also highly knowledgeable about essential matters such as life insurance and estate planning.
A CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, Ken has taken the extra step to demonstrate his professionalism by voluntarily submitting to the rigorous CFP® certification process that includes demanding education, examination, experience and ethical requirements.
Ken also has extensive experience in income tax planning and compliance issues due to his background as a field auditor and appeals officer of the Internal Revenue Service, where he began his career in 1977.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a charter member of the Association of CPA Financial Planners. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Florida and the University of Central Florida.
Ken has been dedicated to serving the community for many years. He is a founder and past treasurer of the Brevard Zoo; a founder of the Suntree Rotary Club and Suntree Rotary Foundation; and a founder of the Friends of the Children Advocacy Center. He serves as a board member of the Friends of the Children Advocacy Center of Brevard. He is active in many area organizations, including the Brevard Economic Council, Melbourne Police Foundation, Children’s Advocacy Center of Brevard and Taking Stock in Children, where he is a board member.
A Florida native, Ken lives in Melbourne with his wife, Elizabeth. They have a daughter, Jessica. In his free time, Ken enjoys swimming, biking and surfing.
