Michael joined one of Manchester, Vermont’s, oldest wealth management practices in 2003, and later co-founded the office that would become Watershed Wealth Management in 2009 with his now retired business partner, Katherine.
Having expanded the practice with the addition of Brian Vargo, in 2015, and Cody Crossman, in 2021, Michael remains committed to a holistic approach to planning, where paying attention to small things can have a big impact.
Michael majored in Political Science and Economics at the University of Vermont before earning the Accredited Wealth Management Advisor certification from Michigan State University, the Accredited Investment Fiduciary Designation, and other certifications. Before returning to the Manchester area, Michael took on senior roles at AG Edwards and RBC Wealth Management, where he learned to apply the fundamentals of wealth management across the full spectrum of clients- particularly debt reduction, estate planning, and asset allocation.
Michael takes pride in his responsibilities both to clients and to the land where he was raised. He is active in the state level leadership of Ducks Unlimited and the Trust for Wildlife- which administers several nature sanctuaries across Vermont and provides a free summer camp for children. On their 200-year-old farmstead, Michael and his family make pure Vermont maple syrup from scratch, cultivate extensive gardens, and maintain an orchard of heirloom Vermont apple varietals. They are in the process of transforming the main house into a net zero home and share it with their hard-working Labrador retrievers.
