“I would like to die on Mars. Just not on impact.”
Elon Musk
The 10-year Treasury yield was 4.96% on Thursday morning October 26, 2023. Earlier in the week the 10-year moved over 5% percent for the first time since 2007. As of September 30, the federal deficit was $1.5 trillion, up from $946 billion in the comparable period a year earlier. Higher interest rates are making it more expensive to finance America’s debt, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office calculates that the government’s interest bill alone will top $1 trillion in 2028.
I have included the Raymond James October 27, 2023, “Weekly Headings: Thoughts of the Week”, by Raymond James’ Larry Adam, Chief Investment Officer, Private Client Group. Please contact me at your convenience if you would like to discuss.
I recently read Walter Isaacson’s book “Elon Musk”, published September 12, 2023. This is a must read book on Elon Musk, an enormously interesting and influential entrepreneur. Isaacson’s biography of Musk is a page turner, beginning with his difficult childhood growing up in South Africa. His troubled relationship with his father is explored and is revisited throughout the book. Musk’s business successes and challenges, as well as his management style were page turning. The book details his business history, from Zip1 that merges to become PayPal, Tesla, SolarRoof, Space X, Nueralink, Hyperloop, and Twitter, now called X. Musk has Aspergers and his personality and relationships are explored with this as an important backdrop. Highly recommend the book “Elon Musk”.
