Say what you want about the various market trends that we have witnessed over the years, but one main point always lays true. Corporate earnings drive the market and 2Q16 earnings are coming in better than the “lowered bar” expectations. As of last Friday 295 companies had reported (about 15% of total companies due to report) and that 71% of them beat their estimated earnings. More importantly, S&P's one-month Earnings Revision number is turning positive, which should act as a carrot in front of the proverbial horse for investors. (source, FactSet)
