Chris Holladay

Chris Holladay,

CFP® Vice President, Investments

For more than a decade, clients have relied on Chris to help them plan for their financial futures and manage their money. He began his career in 2002 as a financial advisor with A.G. Edwards & Sons in Norfolk. Through his years in the business, Chris has seen many changes, which led him to develop a practice that serves clients based on definable goals and personalized strategies to help pursue those goals. He also knew the importance of working with a firm that could support him in this endeavor, which is why he joined Raymond James in 2015.

Because Chris believes in a more holistic form of financial planning that includes expertise in budgeting, planning for retirement, saving for education, managing taxes and insurance coverage, and more, Chris completed rigorous coursework and examinations in 2008 to become a Certified Financial Planner® professional. Certificants must meet ongoing certification renewal requirements and agree to follow rigorous ethical standards.

Chris was born in Anderson, Indiana, and attended Indiana University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology.

He had originally intended to go to medical school but decided to pursue his passion for flying and a desire to serve his country, joining the Navy in 1986. Chris enjoyed an exemplary career as a U.S. Navy aviator. Chris, or “Doc” as he was known to his Navy peers, flew the F-14 Tomcat and was a 1993 graduate of the U.S. Navy Fighter Weapons School ("Top Gun"). Chris served in support of numerous operations including Operation Restore Hope in Somalia and operations Desert Watch and Iraqi Freedom in the Persian Gulf. During his years in the Navy, Chris accumulated over 2,800 flight hours and nearly 500 carrier-arrested landings.

He also was awarded numerous personal decorations including the Meritorious Service Medal (twice), the Air Medal (three times) and the Navy Commendation Medal (four times). Chris retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve in 2014 as a captain with 28 years of service.

Chris and his wife, Marci, have lived in the Virginia Beach area since 1994 and have four children.
