Richard Austin

Richard Austin,

CRPS®, AIF® Branch Manager First Vice President, Investments

For Richard, helping people pursue important goals as their financial journey unfolds has been his life’s work. With more than 30 years of industry experience, he designs custom investment strategies for both individuals and corporate clients as a hands-on portfolio manager.

Keep calm and follow the golden rule
His mission is to provide straightforward communication, client-first service and objective investment management, treating others as he would like to be treated. He enjoys building strong relationships with the people he serves by delivering a more personal experience. He hopes that through his interactions with a client, he’s helped them have a better day.

A good steward in the community
Richard serves on the board of the Mercy House in Montgomery, Alabama, which serves the Washington Park community as a food pantry, clothes closet and more. He has also served on the board of the Landmarks Foundation, founded in 1968 by a group of citizens who wanted to preserve Montgomery’s historic architectural heritage.

Daring to be different
In a state where trucks rule the road, Richard drives a limited GP model Mini Cooper – it’s not flashy, but it’s different and fun to drive. This is one advisor who is aware of herd mentality and can confidently make decisions apart from the crowd.

Educational experiences
Richard studied at Troy University (go Trojans). He has earned Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist® and Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designations. The CRPS® designation requires demonstrated knowledge of well-structured, company-appropriate retirement plans. The AIF® designation requires a fundamental understanding of the principles of fiduciary duty and the standards of conduct for acting as a fiduciary. He helps clients requiring strategic guidance on fiduciary services, employee education, fund comparison and performance review, and investment policy statements.

Concentrated knowledge
Though his team serves clients from all walks of life, including corporate clients, Richard has accumulated knowledge of specific client situations. He specializes in serving the distinct financial needs of attorneys, clients navigating the path to and through retirement, as well as those experiencing sudden wealth.

The details of life
Originally from Jackson, Mississippi, Richard lives in Montgomery, Alabama, with his wife, Kaki. They have two children, Courtney and Barrett, and two grandchildren, Ellis and Isabel. In his free time, Richard enjoys running, hiking and traveling.
