With all of the love, time, and financial resources we put into our horses to keep them happy, healthy, and performing at their best, it is important to address how to continue their care in the event we are no longer here for them. Our horses are part of our family, so safeguarding them like the rest of our family members as part of our estate to ensure they continue to live their best life requires much attention to detail. Things like exercise, veterinary care, shoeing, necessary supplements, maintenance, and basic daily care such as food, water, and shelter can’t be taken for granted in the event our horse outlives us. It’s difficult enough to ensure this just to go on a vacation for a week!
As horse owners, we know there are many different formulas for the proper care of our horses and each one can be different from the next. Some live in pastures, some at boarding facilities, some live at home with us. One thing that they all have in common is that they will require continuity of care if we are no longer here for them.
