Shelly Wiemann Biography

Shelly Wiemann has been a resident of Northern New Mexico since 2011. She was born and raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota, with farming roots on both sides of her family. She grew up in the accounting business since her father Paul was a CPA and ran a successful public accounting firm for 35 years. After leaving the Red River Valley, Shelly attended the University of Minnesota, graduating with honors, summa cum laude. She completed bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology, with extensive coursework in statistics and Industrial Psychology. She lived and worked in the Minneapolis, MN area for 14 years.

After transitioning out of Industrial Psychology, Shelly joined the financial services industry in 2013 in Santa Fe, NM. She joined Northwestern Mutual as an associate financial advisor. In 2015, Shelly was tasked to lead the Edward Jones office in Los Alamos. During her five years at Edward Jones, she received several awards for client service, for growth of her practice, and she volunteered on behalf of the regional leadership team.

Shelly became a Certified Financial Planner™ professional in 2019, becoming the only financial advisor based out of Los Alamos County with this certification.

She founded her independent wealth practice, Wiemann Wealth, in partnership with Raymond James in 2020. Soon after, she became a Registered Principal, supervising branch activities and licensed associates. The practice includes Cathy Shisler, office manager, who has worked with Shelly since 2018. In 2024, our team expanded to include Nancy Quartey, who serves as our Client Relationship Manager. We also opened an appointment-only meeting location in Santa Fe in fall 2023.

Outside of work, Shelly enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family and exploring the Jemez Mountains. She enjoys cooking, hiking, international traveling, skiing and live music. She is an avid swimmer and enjoys backcountry exploration and archeology. During her time in Los Alamos, Shelly has volunteered for several organizations, including the Los Alamos Community Foundation. Currently she is serving as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) in Los Alamos.
