Growing up as a Navy brat provided Charí with a unique perspective, having moved multiples times in her life until Chattanooga TN and then Florida became home. Especially fond memories of island life in Puerto Rico and many places in the US enriched her appreciation for diverse lifestyles.
“Starting at the age of 5, I traveled all over with my military family. My father was an officer in the Navy serving on aircraft carriers and bases as a medic then physician’s assistant. We faced constant disruption year over year – it’s important to find your stability in every environment. Change was our norm so we learned to adapt and stick together as a family and group. My parents met while they were both Naval officers in California. Confronting the challenge of supporting five children on a single income across various locations worldwide, they opted for the military to establish a stable career and secure their retirement. Three of my brothers served in the Army, Reserves, and National Guard. Through boot camp, active duty, deployments, and retirement I have lived and watched as soldiers, spouses, and kids cope and adapt to all that military life brings. Married to her college sweetheart Jason, Charí is a dedicated parent to Jack and Fiona. With a large family, she juggles the joyful chaos of numerous siblings, in-laws, nieces, and nephews while cherishing the value instilled by military life.
