Wisdom of the Buffalo

The buffalo is beloved by our team. The inspiration came from a story Victor Adint told his boys about the value of facing trouble head on. Counter to its cousin, the common cattle, a buffalo will turn and move into a storm, instinctively knowing that running from it will only keep it exposed longer.

It’s a potent metaphor for life – and financial planning.

In life, as in the markets, there are good days and bad. Sometimes trouble strikes unexpectedly, but knowledge and planning may help us see it coming from further out and to be better prepared. In either case, it is beneficial to face it directly, equipped with a plan and confident in one’s experience. Incidentally, the same is true on sunny days.

When investing, we believe that it is best to act, to be positioned such that we do not have to react to changing markets. By thinking and planning ahead while managing risk, our goal is to act into changing markets, taking advantage of opportunities they can create when possible.
