Marie (she/her) works to help reduce the stress that investments and money matters can bring to a household by helping clients understand their goals and recommending suitable, personalized strategies to pursue them. As part of that, she takes the time to understand her clients’ preferences, life circumstances and investment styles, and helps them work toward positive impacts in their lives and communities.
Two essential truths guide her practice. One, knowledge is power, so she focuses her efforts on explaining financial concepts and the options available to her clients with warmth and clarity. Second, she knows everyone’s life is unique, and that it is important to understand the specific contours of her clients’ lives so she can provide options tailored to their situations, their families and their businesses or careers.
In her practice, Marie specializes in developing retirement savings and retirement income strategies, creating estate and legacy plans, values-based investing and financial planning related to divorce. She also works with many LGBTQ+ individuals and families to create holistic financial plans and investment strategies.
Hailing from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Marie received her Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University and then her Master of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Marie is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional, a designation she earned by completing a program of rigorous study, examination, ethics and continuing education. Additionally, Marie has also earned the Accredited Asset Management Specialist℠ professional designation, a program focused on asset management and investments with initial and continuing education requirements.
She is actively engaged in her community. She is a member of the Durham YMCA advisory board and is a former development committee chair. She has also been a member of the board of directors for the Downtown Durham Rotary Club. In the past, she also served as a board member at the LGBTQ Center of Durham, was a member of the Community Engagement Committee for the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and was a member of the EarthShare North Carolina Earth Day Committee.
Prior to joining Raymond James in 2022, Marie’s practice was affiliated with Edward Jones.
