Drew Benson,

CFP®, AAMS President & Founder, Benson Wealth Management Senior Wealth Advisor, RJFS

We have a distinct niche in investment banking for entrepreneurs and high-net-worth families. Through our relationship with Raymond James, which owns Alex Brown—the nation’s oldest investment bank—we’re able to help clients not only manage wealth, but also capitalize business growth, pursue private market opportunities, and help execute successful business exits. Whether you’re preparing to sell your company, raise capital, or navigate a liquidity event, we bring together the strategy, structure, and relationships to help you do it with confidence.

We combine traditional wealth management services—including portfolio management, advanced tax strategies, and estate and legacy design—with access to investment banking capabilities rarely available at the independent advisory level. Through Raymond James and our network of boutique investment bankers, we’re able to help clients strategically plan for growth, liquidity, and long-term financial impact. Whether you’re navigating a complex estate, evaluating a business sale, or building generational wealth, we offer the full toolkit to guide you every step of the way.

As President and Founder of Benson Wealth Management, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® Professional, and a Senior Wealth Advisor with Raymond James Financial Services, I have over a decade of experience in the financial industry and the privilege of walking alongside families, business owners, and individuals navigating complex financial dynamics. My approach is personal and proactive—when you partner with me, I want to understand what matters most to you, and I aim to be the first person you call when you’re facing a significant financial decision—whether it’s buying a new business, planning a charitable gift, or simply wondering whether to lease or buy that next car.

One of the things that makes my perspective a bit different is that I didn’t begin my career in wealth management. I’m a trained economist, with a BA in Economics from Grove City College and a Master’s in Economics from San Jose State, where I focused on monetary theory and macroeconomic trends. I spent my early career as an economist at ITR Economics, a macroeconomic forecasting and consulting firm, and then moved into research consulting at Forrester Research. That background continues to inform my work every day—I bring a deep understanding of interest rates, inflation, market cycles, and policy shifts to every conversation I have with clients. I’m still a student of economic history, especially the Great Depression and the 2008 financial crisis, both of which continue to shape my thinking.

Beyond traditional financial planning and portfolio management, I also serve as Co-Founder and Co-Managing Partner of True North Wealth Management Group, a firm that supports independent financial advisors, predominantly in New England. Helping advisors thrive in an independent model—while staying client-focused—is a big part of what inspires me today.

I genuinely love this work and the people I get to serve. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and it’s been deeply fulfilling to build a practice that aligns with my values, my team, and my clients. I’m especially grateful for my colleagues Katie Kumpulanian and Lena Mollenhauer, Client Wealth Administrators, whose care, talent, and character make us stronger every day.

Outside of work, life is full and joyfully chaotic. My wife, Rebecca, and I live in Southern New Hampshire with our seven children. We raise chickens, are kept in line by two Collies, and spend weekends golfing, hiking, skiing, and RVing as a family. More than anything, I believe that relationships are the most valuable investment we make—whether with our families, clients, colleagues, church, or community.
