Jerry Boesen,

CFP® Vice President, Investments

Qualifications

I have been managing wealth for families for more than 30 years. I began my career in finance in 1986. Prior to that, I worked in management in the dental industry. I bring to wealth management the values of quality service and integrity that I learned growing up in my family’s floral business.

I was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa in 1979. I was a member of the Iowa Writer’s Workshop during my years at Iowa. I have also taken and passed the Series 3, 7, 63 and 65 examinations. I am licensed to sell life and health insurance, as well as annuity products, including variable annuities. I hold the Certified Financial Planner certification, the most recognized credential in the field of Financial Planning.

To obtain the CFP® designation, individuals must complete a comprehensive course of study at an approved college or university covering a multitude of financial planning topics, including:

  • Investments
  • Estate Planning
  • Insurance
  • Income Tax Planning
  • Wealth Transfer Strategies
  • Risk Management
  • Retirement Planning
  • Employee Benefits
  • Wealth Management Planning

Upon completion of the required coursework, I was required to pass a comprehensive, two-day, 10-hour examination that tested my ability to apply the knowledge I had obtained to real-life situations. This test is considered one of the most difficult in the industry.

Personal

I live with my wife, Mary Jo in Des Moines. We enjoy family life with our two sons, and two grandsons. I am an avid gardener and baseball fan, primarily as a result of years of coaching little league. We are members of Christ the King parish, and I am past chairman of the Christ the King Foundation. I am also past president of the Serra Club of Des Moines.
