Why do you invest?

Is it simply to accumulate wealth? Perhaps. But it's more likely there is a purpose behind your investments. For individuals the purpose may be preparing for retirement, funding higher education or leaving a legacy for future generations. For a company that purpose is to attract and retain productive and happy employees. For an endowment or foundation the purpose is to fund spending on projects that align with its mission. While many of us get caught up in the market movements and news of the day, it's helpful to take a step back occasionally and go back to the purpose we invest. Am I on the right track? Can I get there from here? Adjusting investment strategies to fit current market and economic conditions is obviously important. However, it still only a component that feeds back into those two questions. Am I on the right track? Can I get there from here? I am grateful and honored that my clients allow me to help them answer those questions.
