George Brown has been providing financial advice since 1986. He has worked with individuals, small businesses both profit and non-profit, academic institutions, and religious affiliations. His philosophy has been to gain an understanding of his client’s objectives and to provide long-term strategies to achieve their goals. His investment strategies are derived from an asset allocation process that is customized for each client. Brown further meets the needs of his clients by extending high levels of service that have built many trusted relationships. Brown has facilitated workshops, conducted seminars, and taught Adult Continuing Education classes to best inform many investors.

Prior to founding Brown Investment Strategies in 2010 and affiliating with Raymond James, he pioneered many business initiatives and has been a leader in the financial services industry. In 1986, he launched a bank-based brokerage program at Home & City Savings Bank in Albany, NY. This program allowed the bank clients to have the choice of adding investments in their portfolio. In 1991, he joined Edward Jones Investments establishing their first Albany office. In 2004, he became a Principal of Jones overseeing the growth and development of Upstate New York while maintaining his investment practice. Brown personally recruited and trained scores of Financial Advisors on best practices and has been recognized with numerous awards for his business and service contribution.

Brown’s industry experience has been coupled with his academic accomplishments. He has a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University at Albany. He is an Accredited Asset Management Specialist and CERTIFIED FINANACIAL PLANNER™ professional.

Brown has actively participated in the Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce, National Kidney Foundation and FBI Citizen’s Academy. He formerly represented Edward Jones in New York State as its Grassroots Chairman advocating legislation on behalf of individual investors. In that capacity, he helped establish the ROTH IRA. He now is a member of the Financial Services Institute and on behalf of independent Financial Advisors continues to voice key laws in support of investors. He resides in a suburb of Albany with his wife and has two grown children.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, Certified Financial Planner,  CFP Logo Flame Design and  CFP Logo Plaque Design in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
