After graduating from the University of Tennessee Knoxville with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Monty spent the first part of his career building several bio-technology organizations in the Northeast. In 2003, with a strong understanding of how to build a technology organization, and million miler awards from two airlines, he and his wife Brenda decided it was time to spend more time focusing on his family at home and build a new rewarding career in financial planning and wealth management.
Monty serves as the Director of Investment Services at SmartBank. He has built a wealth management organization recognized in several industry publications for its growth trajectory and high-touch value provided to clients. Investment Services currently consists of 17 employees including 10 advisors across 3 states. Our Tullahoma team, also known as Highland Rim Wealth Management team, includes Monty Hatcher, Anthony Watts, April Hansert, and Tiffany Winsett.
Monty’s professional certifications include the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM, CFP® designation and the Accredited Asset Management Specialist™, AAMS™ designation. Monty has served as President of the Board of Directors for The Hands-On Science Center and as Chairman of the United Way of the Highland Rim and is a past board member for the Tullahoma Chamber of Commerce. He has also served as Past President of the Tullahoma Downtown Lions Club and is a Melvin Jones Fellow. He currently serves as a Lions Club Director.
