Steve Poitevint received his B. S. Degree in Business Administration from Auburn University in 1980. He was a member of the Auburn University Football Team from 1975-1979, where he lettered in 1978 and 1979.
He holds the Series 6, 7, 51 and 63 General Securities Licenses. He also holds the Series 24 Registered Principal Designation and holds his licenses in insurance and variable annuities.
Steve began his career over thirty-eight years ago, in February 1985, as a Financial Advisor with American Express Financial Advisors, formerly IDS Financial Services. Beginning in 1987, he served as a Financial Advisor with Financial Service Corporation based in Atlanta, Georgia. He has been affiliated with Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. since 1990.
Steve was selected among 100 of more than 5000 financial advisors at Raymond James to become a charter member of the Institute of Investment Management Consulting (IIMC). In September 2005, he completed a 3-day training course and exam to qualify for Investment Management Consulting. In April 2008, Steve completed a 3-day training and exam to qualify for Level 2 of Investment Management Consulting. Steve is a current member of the Raymond James Financial Services (RJFS) Executive Council* and has been for the last nine years. Executive Council honors are presented only to those financial advisors who have demonstrated an extremely high level of commitment to clients through personal services and professional integrity.
Steve serves as an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Bainbridge where he has also served as Treasurer. He is Chairman of the Stewardship and Finance Committee and has served as Chairman of the Pastor Nominating Committee in securing a new pastor. Steve teaches Sunday school and a bible study group. Steve has served on the Board of Directors of the Bainbridge Rotary Club, Community Service Director, Treasurer, and Chaplain. He is a member of the Bainbridge Country Club and a former Treasurer. Steve is a member of the Bainbridge Bearcat Touchdown Club where he has served as President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Steve is a member of the Auburn Football Letterman Club, the Bainbridge/Decatur County Chamber of Commerce and a charter member of the Board of Directors of the Bainbridge/Decatur County YMCA. He has also served as Vice President and Treasurer of the local adult chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). He has served on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee of Friendship House, an inner city ministry serving the youth of Decatur County. Steve has served on the Board of Directors of the Samaritan Counseling Center, a faith based counseling service.
Steve has spoken to numerous groups and has given seminars on financial planning and investment management. He writes a regular column for the local newspaper, The Bainbridge Post-Searchlight, and previously had a weekly radio talk show on WMGR-AM in Bainbridge titled "Money Talk."
